With Easter earlier, sales in supermarkets fall 5.8% in April

In April the supermarket industry sales fell 5.84 percent over the same month of last year, already discounted inflation. However, the basis for comparison is not the same. This year, Easter Sunday fell on the first day of the month, which means that sales to one of the most important seasonal dates occurred in March. So much so that April sales retreated 12.61% when compared with the previous month. All indices were calculated by Abras (Brazilian Association of Supermarkets) in the first four months of this year, however, the real growth of 1.75 registers self-service%. The Association works with the prospect that the supermarket sector revenues grow 3% in 2018.
