Stocks are suitable for 52.5% of entrepreneurs

IE (stock Index) of the retail trade in the city of Sao Paulo rose 2.2 percent, to move from 103 points in December 2017 to 105.3 points in January. Compared to the previous year, the high was 3.2%. This improvement in the level of inventories of stores is a result of the good performance of the Christmas sales, which consolidated the year of economic recovery, also shown by other indicators of FecomercioSP (Federation of trade in goods, services and tourism of the State of São Paulo) and that must remain over 2018.
The data make up the IE (stock Index), which captures the perception of retailers about the volume of goods stocked in stores, and ranges from zero (total inadequacy) 200 points (total adequacy). The mark of 100 points is the line between inadequate and fitness.

The proportion of entrepreneurs who considers your level of adequate stocks reached 52.5%, remaining above 50% for the ninth consecutive month, but still below the historical average of 60% pre-crisis. There was high of 1 p.p. compared to December and 1.8 percentage points compared to January 2017. The share of entrepreneurs who reported excessive stocks fell 0.6 percentage points compared to the previous month, hitting 31.8%. 15.5% consider their stocks already insufficient, fall of 0.5 percentage points on the same basis of comparison.

According to the Federation's economic advice, the slow and gradual adjustment of the level of stocks-which is still high, but tends to keep falling on average-and Christmas sales were responsible for the improvement in the index. The expectation of FecomercioSP is that the surplus stocks have a good reduction during the liquidations of January and the end of the first quarter of the year, we are celebrating the return to normality after a long time.
