Brazilian sugar exports via container rises 10%

Brazilian sugar exports totaled 743,679 tons container route in the second quarter of 2017, 25.81% increase in comparison with the previous quarter, when they were shipped 591,121 tons.
As a result, the Brazilian exports of the sweetener by means of containers totaled 1,334,801 tons in the first half of 2017, which represents a growth of 10.08% compared to 1,212,618 tons shipped in same period in 2016.
In the evaluation of Datagro consulting, since the operation of loading bags of sugar in containers is more agile, the method still has the preference of traders.
According to a survey of Datagro, the first six months of this year, exports of sweetener in ships "break-bulk" (when the loading is done in the holds of ships) totalled only 241,627 tonnes.
The main destination of sugar exported by Brazil in containers in the first half of this year was Myanmar. The country accounted for 13.9% of Brazilian foreign sales of sugar, close to 185,779 tons, followed by Benin with 7.8% (104,125 tons) and Yemen with 7.3% (96,904 tonnes).
