Packaging of the stain stick will be produced with recycled plastic Qualitá

The GPA Group (Pão de Açúcar) put on the market new packages get Qualitá spots produced with recycled plastic, within the program "New again" of the retailer. The production is made in partnership with Braskem, by Wecycle platform, created by the petrochemical industry to the recovery of plastic waste in the production chain.
The initiative will use packaging discarded at stations installed in supermarkets and hypermarkets GPA network (Extra and Pão de Açúcar), which are donated to the program partner cooperatives. Once separated, the plastic is sent to a recycler (Wisewood), which produces the composite of 70% recycled content and 30% polyethylene (PE) Virgin. The resin is then transformed into jars. The whole cycle is audited by Wecycle. Cooperatives are now part of the network to be + Director, Braskem''s program that aims to increase recycling of post-consumer waste in Brazil in a collaborative way, as well as develop the work of collectors and the professionalization of cooperatives.
The entire volume of a stain stick Qualitá sold in Brazil — about 10000 units per month – will have packaging manufactured with recycled resin.
The partnership also represents a new step in the program "New again" the GPA, you can reinsert the paper cycle and long life packaging (partnerships with papyrus and Tetra Pak) collected Extra stores and stations.
In total, will be recycled annually, only with the partnership between GPA and Braskem, 60 tons of plastic.
