Cellular bases and pay-TV retreat in March, says Fcc

SAO PAULO (Reuters)-the numbers of active cell lines and the pay TV subscribers in Brazil fell in March over a year earlier, reported on Monday the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel).
The base of active lines of mobile telephony in March fell 5,83% on a year earlier, to 242,790,000, while maintaining performance seen in February, when three of the four major carriers in the country--TIM (TIMP3.SA: quotes), Claro and Hi (OIBR3.SA: quotes)--recorded reductions in the number of accesses.
Already the amount of customers of pay-TV services in the country retreated 1,78% in March over a year earlier, to 18,610,000, according to the data of the Agency.
