Barbie manufacturer Announces drop in sales higher than expected

The world''s largest toy maker, Mattel, reported higher-than-expected fall in sales on Thursday, reflecting weak demand for brands like Barbie and Fisher-Price and due to big discounts to move inventory accumulated after weak sales in the holiday period.
The company''s sales in the first quarter fell 15,4% to $735,600,000.
The figures come falling since 2009, and were below the estimates of analysts who predicted $801,400,000, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/s.
The prejudice Mattel reached 113,200,000 dollars in the first quarter, compared with 73 1,000,001 loss the year before.
The company said that sales in its Division for boys and girls, representing 60% of Mattel''s total sales, fell 16%. Fisher-Price sales fell 9%, while those of Barbie shrank 13%.
Mattel has been trying to expand your presence in China, where the toy market is still profitable.
The company made arrangements with the Chinese company Alibaba and online trading with online content developer BabyTree to sell products of interactive learning with Fisher-Price toys.
