Average price rises of meat at retail

In the last 12 years, consumers of Mato Grosso paid 284% for beef. These developments could have been lower if it had been a consistency of values between the links of this chain: production, cold storage and retail. The evaluation is Luciano Vacari, Executive Director of Acrimat (Association of Breeders of Mato Grosso).
During the same period, citing Investigation data (Mato-Grossense Agricultural Economy), prices went up 184% wholesale, and the appreciation of the boi was 157% on the farm, he says.
Already in the last five years, while the retail racked up 150% high, the production received 75% more for arroba of ox. The average price of meat, which was r $13 a pound in retail five years ago is already $22 this month, although the arroba of ox has fallen in price.
"It''s irresponsible of retailing and there is no technical explanation for all this." The sign of the ox is on the lowest level of the last years and this fall of the Ox in the pasture is not yet reflected in the pocket of the consumer, says Vacari.
In fall the Cepea (Center for advanced studies in applied economics) confirms the price drop of the ox. The at 10%, shrank in real terms over the past 12 months. During the same period, the value of the calf had 15% drop.
The fall of this beginning of year due to the increase in the slaughter of females. This phenomenon always occurs when calf prices and at are dropping.
The increase in slaughter of females in this beginning of year will affect, however, in offering calf from 2018. Fewer calves will be less bois for slaughter in the coming years. And this scenario is going to reflect in the meat supply in the wholesale market, according to the researchers the Cepea.
