Tablets for sale 10% must retreat in Brazil in 2017, says IDC

SÃO PAULO-sales of tablets in Brazil next year should back off 10%, accumulating retraction of around 60% in three years, said on Monday the market research firm IDC.
The company''s survey says that the number of tablets to be sold in Brazil in 2017 must fall to 3,600,000, compared to 4,000,000 units expected for this year. In 2015, sales totaled about of equipment after 9,000,000 6,000,000 in 2014.
Second Wellington La Falce, market analyst of IDC Brazil, beyond the effects of the recession, the tablets market shrinkage happens with the advancement of smart phones with bigger screens.
"There was some cannibalization of tablets, since we can''t justify buying two devices so similar. In addition, many manufacturers have abandoned the Brazil. Currently, only three brands are concentrated 75% of the whole market, "said the analyst, in a statement to the press.
The expectation is that sales of smartphones in Brazil this year pull back the equipment, fall 40,300,000 about of 14% about 2015, according to IDC. Already the expected drop in sales of tablets this year towards 2015 is 33,3%.
In the first half, were marketed in Brazil around of 1.7 million tablets, 43% drop on the same period last year, said the analyst.
