Star Group expands production of frozen breads in RS

The Rio Group, controlled by the family Star Pretto, is betting on the market of frozen breads to large customers like supermarket chains. To do so, inaugurated today a factory with the capacity to produce 3600 tons per month in the metropolitan region of Canoas (RS), volume six times larger than the old drive, installed in the center of the city and has been disabled.
In Panfácil, which produces breads and frozen snacks, R$ 28,000,000 was invested over the past four years, between built-up area and equipment. If they are considered investments made by Star Mill, which provides wheat flour to Panfácil, the value applied by the group goes to R$ 45,000,000, informed the company.
Bread consumption in Rio Grande do Sul grew 10%, from 2000 to 2015, due to frozen breads, estimates the Union Gaucho of breads, pasta and cookies. The per capita consumption of French bread in Rio Grande do Sul is 43 kg 45 kg per year, above the national average of 33.5 kg annually, according to the Abip (Brazilian Association of Bakery).

In all, the Star group, which completes 50 years in 2017, employs 650 people. The turnover of the Group was 270,000,000 R$ last year and Panfácil represents about 10% of that value. The group is estimated to grow 10% this year. For 2017, the forecast is to increase sales of Panfácil in 80%.
The family business are distributed in four companies, the holding company Mesapart. Besides the Star Mill and Panfácil, the Group has the Mesasul, which provides basic baskets, food & hygiene for public and private bodies, and the Presete, which operates in real estate.
