Fipe index/Rocket captures high 6% e-commerce prices in August

SÃO PAULO-Commerce prices soared 6.01 percent in August 2016 in comparison with the same month of 2015, according to Fipe index/rocket. The indicator shows a deceleration of inflation in the sector in recent months, after the high prices peaked at 11% in early 2016.
Despite the slowdown, the indicator still signals an atypical behavior in prices of e-commerce. The vine sector registering deflation from 2012 and reversed this trend by mid-2015, affected mainly by foreign exchange impact in electronic items, which have a relevant participation in online sales.
The appliances lead between the categories with the highest elevation of prices compared to the previous year, registering an increase of 9.08% in August compared with same month of 2015. The computer equipment occupy second place with 7.7%.
In a statement, the CEO of Buscapé Company, Sandoval Martins, assesses that the trend is that the deceleration of the PriceTag e-commerce continue in the coming months.
