Electronics sector starts year with decline in orders

More than half of the manufacturers of electrical and electronic products (52%) had drop in sales and orders in January, compared with the same month of 2015, reveals poll by the Brazilian electrical and electronics industry (Abinee).
According to the survey, 54% of companies had business below.
As for the employment situation, 41 percent of companies consulted pointed and only 7% indicated growth.
For February, the expectation of 41% of the companies is high in sales, while 38% expect to fall.
This year, 49 percent of the companies queried expect increased, a higher percentage than all that predict drop in business (21%).
In a statement, the Chief Executive Officer of Abinee, Humberto Barbato, says that the sector should be this year performance below the gross domestic product (GDP, sum of all goods and services produced in the country).
"With the prospect of GDP shrinkage of 3.8 percent for this year, the trend for the electronics sector billing for 2016 is also real fall 6%," said Barbato.
