Household budget tightening follows in 2017

The slow economic recovery should prolong the budget squeeze. Over the course of 2017, superfluous spending cuts and prioritizing the payment of which is essential, such as food and housing, are measures that will repeat. The slack in the budget of families, that is, what''s left for consumption and leisure after the essential expenditure has turned around 35% of income this year, according to calculations of the trends. For 2017, the projections still show no relief on the gauge.
"There was a great fit to items of first necessity and this movement doesn''t let the numbers change," said John Matthews, an analyst at consulting firm. He points out the energy adjustments, in 2015, and, this year, as obstacles to an improvement in the family accounts. The calculation uses as a basis the items with greater weight on inflation as measured by the IPCA (Broad consumer price index).
Residential spending increase
The application of financial control GuiaBolso also detected that forced change in consumption habits. A survey among its users 68200 shows that, between October 2015 and last month, the expenses with residential accounts increased his weight on income of 8.9% to 10.9%.
The same movement occurred in housing costs, which increased from 15.4% to 17.4% slice of the budget. Disbursements in supermarkets, however, saw its share fall from 12.6% to 11.3%. These figures reflect the cost of living and the need to cut costs.
Segments such as health and education not escaped cuts. In the same period, expenditure in the first category fell from 2% to 0.9% of income, and the second, from 1.1% to 0.4%. Superfluous items such as travel, personal care, shopping and bars and restaurants also lost space.
13th salary the situation, really, is not of the best. According to the survey of spending habits of Boa Vista SCPC, 72% of Brazilians are going to use to pay off wage debts and 13 pay the Bills of the beginning of the year. Only 13% of respondents will save or invest.
