Dow launches evolution in resins with Dowlex GM

As the market evolves, consumption goes on to demand more efficient and sustainable packaging to help reduce food waste or loss in the logistics chain, for example. To address this trend, Dow launches its latest innovation in the business of packaging and specialty Plastics: the GM, Dowlex new family of resins of low density linear polyethylene with a focus on flexible packaging and industrial films.
The family Dowlex GM addresses two of the major needs of manufacturers of food packaging. The new technology enables the development of films with better optical properties that help to position the packing as an important marketing tool, valuing attributes such as transparency and brightness, so as to have greater prominence at the point of sale. The resins also provide greater mechanical resistance, ensuring the protection of the bottled product to the final consumer, and excellent sealing capacity.
"The new GM Dowlex family is an important innovation that brings more competitiveness to the jail and that adds to other recent releases, such as resins for precision packaging Innate and the Symbiex lamination adhesives, offering complete solutions both in primary packaging, secondary and tertiary," said Adriano Aun (pictured), Marketing Manager for food packaging Dow Specialities for & Latin America.
"The differential for food packaging-films for automatic packaging and lamination-is this resin allows the production of movies with better optical properties, is transparency, be better brightness. This helps position the retail products of differentiated way, with better visualization, more differentiation in the gondola. Is a product line that delivers a mechanical property, which helps in protecting the product, a high-performance sealing ", explains the Executive.
The new family of resins can also be applied in the production of stretch film with superior stretch capacity, increase the puncture resistance, compared to traditional films. The result is a reduction in both the amount of film used for pallet and the number of disruptions of the film during the Unitization. This gain in performance is critical since the logistic process failures result in damage to products and increased cost to the jail, decreasing its efficiency.
"In the line of industrial films, this is a new grid for the stretch. The product delivers two main properties: high degree of stretch and at the same time without disruptions and ruptures. The more stretch, more you demand of stretch film. This resin allows you to have a pretty significant stretch without harming the main property, which is the protection of the pallet during transportation. As a result, sustainable and economic benefits, since it is used a more suitable quantity per pallet film, "Adriano Aun.
