Shareholders of Agrium and Potash Corp support merger of fertilizers SHARE

The shareholders of Agrium and Potash Corp ofSaskatchewan approved overwhelmingly a merger involving shares of producers of fertilizers on Thursday, leaving now the deal for regulators review in United States and Canada.
More than 99% of investors of Potash and Agrium of 98% voted in favour of the agreement, according to the companies. Fertilizer producers are struggling with falling prices and profits, amid lower prices of agricultural products.

In North America, the merged company would have two-thirds of the capacity of production of potassium and almost a third of the capacity of phosphate and nitrogen.
