Assaí inaugurates first conversion of an Extra store

This Friday (4/11), the Assai inaugurated the first store converted from an Extra hyper, in the Pillars, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. This is the first conversion of the two planned for this year – the second will open in December in the city of São Vicente, on the coast of São Paulo.

According to the direction of the wholesaler, the restructuring of an existing store to accommodate a self-service wholesale unit involves adjustments in structure, layout, equipment, among other changes required for the operation of the model. On average, this adaptation costs between 60% and 70% of the investment in a new store, built from scratch. In the case of Assai Pillars, the investment was 22 million R$.
The new shop of Assai in Rio de Janeiro is the 14th network unit in the State and has about 9000 m ² of built area, with 4600 m ² of sales area, 357 parking spaces and 28 boxes. With the arrival of the store were generated approximately 500 direct and indirect jobs vacancies. The Assai Pillars is on Avenida Dom Helder Câmara, no. 6350.
