Analysis of Dow Chemical''s merger with DuPont is suspended

Brussels-European Union antitrust regulators have suspended the examination of 130 billion merger of Dow Chemical to DuPont, after companies don''t provide crucial data, informed the European Commission on Friday.
The EU competition regulator has suspended research at day 13 of October, according to a file in your site, for the second time.
"This procedure in investigation of fusion is activated if the parties do not provide important information that the Commission requested them," said the Commission spokesman, Ricardo Cardoso, in an e-mail.
Companies are working constructively with the Commission and other regulatory authorities, hoping to close the deal in the first quarter of 2017, said the spokesman for Dow Chemical, Rachelle Schikorra, in an e-mail.
The merger to create the largest crop protection and seeds the world has caused regulatory concerns that may reduce competition in those areas, as well as certain petrochemicals.
