Retail resigns young and hires the more mature

In the midst of crisis on sales, the retail trade has bet on waiver of young workers and hiring more mature employees, according to a survey made by the CNC (National Commerce Confederation for goods, services and tourism).
In 2015, the number of occupied retail workers retreated for the first time since 1992. By late last year, people working in the sector 7,920,000 nationwide, a drop of 2.1% over the previous year, equivalent to 171,969 slots. The data were compiled from the General Register of the employed and unemployed by the Ministry of labor.
Of the total jobs cut in retail, 91.6% occurred among workers with up to 24 years of age, which means 157,600 young people lost their jobs. At the same time, despite the reduction in sales were generated 27800 openings at the retail trade for workers with 50 years or older.
Average remuneration, the cuts hit more the higher income ranges: between 5.01 and 10.00 minimum wages ( -9.5% 2014) 10.01 the 20.00 minimum wages ( -10.3%) and up to 20 minimum wages ( -7.4%). In 2015, 89.7% of business people received monthly income between 1.01 and 3.00 minimum wages, the largest percentage in that range in 13 years of surveys.
Layoffs hit, mostly workers with lower education. Employees who have not completed high school accounted for 99.5% of the closing of openings in retail in 2015, equivalent to 170,900 dismissed.
Among the ten professions with greater participation in the workforce, most retail cut employees was Administrative Assistant, with 7.1% reduction in the number of slots ( -45.8 1000 posts). Vendors, professional category responsible for 33.9% of the retail labour force, 33800 vacancies in 2015 were lost. Retail is the second largest employer in the country among the 25 main economic subsectors.
