Plastic bags are back up in RS

The project of law No. 216/2011, created by State representative Ronaldo Santini (PTB), reascende the debate over plastic bags, as reflected in the São Paulo market, this time in Rio Grande do Sul. The project proposes the replacement of this article by reusable solutions, such as cardboard boxes or bags of cloth, as a way of raising awareness among consumers. The President of the State Association of Supermarkets (Agas), Antonio Longo, is in favour of awareness and reveals that the cost of the bag represents today about 0.5% of supermarket revenues. On the other hand, as well as Rep. Ronaldo Santini, the leader believes that charge for bags or boxes is not the best solution for the time being.
