CADE approves acquisition of FMC Italy by Cargill

The Administrative Council for economic Defense (Cade) approved the acquisition by Cargill Eurit, of all the shares of FMC Italy, holder of a pure pectin manufacturing unit in Italy.

Marketed in the form of powder, pectin is used primarily by the food industry as a trainer of solid gelatinous consistency, to ensure texture, improve the appearance and help on temperature stability of the products.
For Cargill, second document sent to the antitrust law, "the location of the plant will provide easier access to raw material for the production of pectin.
In the case of FMC, "the operation is part of its commercial strategy in response to the challenges experienced in the operation of the factory profitably".
