Bunge is the most sustainable company of the year by the Guia EXAME

Bunge was voted the most sustainable company of 2015 for the new edition of the EXAME sustainability Guide, which hits the newsstands on Thursday (5).
Largest exporter of agribusiness in the country (with revenues of 40 billion reais in 2014), Bunge is ahead of a growing effort, and encompassing other industry giants to reduce deforestation in the expansion of the agricultural frontier.
She does this through an intense melee with their suppliers, seeking to adapt them to good environmental practices and environmental legislation. The goal is to show that it is possible to increase productivity without the need for new land for planting.

In Western Bahia, for example, where it is estimated that more than half of the Cerrado was overthrown, the company works in partnership with the NGO The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to ensure the implementation of the forest code next to small producers.
Altogether, 4 million by 2017 for this and other projects that monitor small producers in relation to best practice, most in the State of Mato Grosso, Pará and Rondônia, where are the soy in the Amazon region.
Satellite images help identify outbreaks of deforestation. According to the company, if a leading supplier, it is automatically locked and can only get back in business after responding to justice and fit.
In 2015, the company also undertook to eliminate the deforestation of its suppliers around the world.
In Brazil, an essential tool contributing to the reduction of deforestation in the Amazon and for greater involvement of the companies was the creation of the soy moratorium and its operational body, the Working Group of the soybean (GTS).
The moratorium (whose main criterion is the veto the soybeans planted in new areas of deforestation) entered into force in 2006, after Greenpeace released the report "Eating the Amazon" and a public campaign has exposed the link between the production of soya and deforestation of the Amazon.
The EXAME sustainability Guide brings together the best corporate social and environmental responsibility projects, analyzing the way of operation and the results of its programs.
The methodology used in the Guide to assess companies was developed by the Centre of studies of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (GVCes), which is the main institution in the development of strategies, policies and public and business management tools in sustainability in the country.
