Offensive to export noble cuts of angus

After the recognition by the Ministry of agriculture, in may, the quality label "Brazilian Angus Beef", the Brazilian Angus Association (ABA) began an offensive commercial, in partnership with refrigerators, to open market for noble breed cuts in the European Union (EU). Shipments with the seal began to be made two months ago by Marfrig, which provides regular weekly dispatches of 12 to 13 tonnes for Germany and the Netherlands at the end of October.
The product is the first to be exported by the Brazilian agricultural sector with identifying race, thanks to the membership of the ABA to Agricultural management platform (PGA), established in August by the Ministry of agriculture in collaboration with the National Confederation of agriculture and livestock (CNA) and the Inter-American Institute for cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) to improve traceability and monitoring of products of animal origin. So far the Brazilian meat were sold in foreign markets without differentiation.
In its first sales, Marfrig 5% got from 10% overpriced compared to the average share price of boneless beef and cooled exported by Brazil to the EU, according to the Bureau of foreign trade (Secex) was $ 10,6 thousand per ton in 2014 and $ 9.7 thousand between January and August this year. "In the month of November, the percentage should reach 15%", says the commercial Director of Marfrig Beef Brazil, Alisson Navarro.
The European bloc already pays 65% above the overall average for boned meat and cold, and as the Angus beef program manager of ABA, Fabio Medeiros, the goal is to get to 2019 with shipments of 4 thousand tons a year for the region within the so-called Hilton quota, which has more advantageous rates.
The work is part of the project "Brazilian Beef", developed in partnership by the Brazilian Agency of Promotion of exports and investments (Apex) and the Brazilian Association of Meat exporters (Abiec) and that brings together nine companies refrigerators located eight States, says Mann.
According to him, the seal of the ABA, which evaluates criteria such as traceability, the age of the animals and conditions of termination, obtained the seal of still German TÜV Rheinland certification. The Association's plan includes the promotion of noble cuts like filet mignon, rib eye, filet of rib and rump in the main food fairs in the region-Anuga, in Germany, and Sial, in France, but other markets such as Italy, are also in sight. Outside the EU, the idea is to get to the United Arab Emirates.
The effort for the recovery of the breed of cattle already yielded different prices for the product on the domestic market-20% to 30% above the meat "commodity," says Mann. In the field, the creators also receive a premium of approximately 10% in comparison to what could in a calf sale pattern of nelore, for example, explains. According to him, the volume of slaughterings linked to Angus beef program should reach 400 thousand steers this year across the country, up from 330 000 in 2014.
