Abinee estimates actual fall 4% in 2014, reversing projection

The Brazilian Association of electrical and Electronics Industry (Abinee) projects a real crash, discounted the inflation of 4% in turnover in the sector this year, compared to 2013. The forecast reverses expectation of real growth between 3.5% and 4% in 2014, is made by the entity in April. From January to June, revenues of the sector suffered a fall of 4% real. On nominal basis, progress was made of 3% year to date. However, the quarterly results show a deterioration of performance: there was a nominal 6 percent advance from January through March, but stability in the second quarter.
Exports retreated 5% in the first half, to $ 3.2 billion. At the same time, Brazilian purchases of electrical and electronic equipment abroad fell 1%, to $ 20.8 billion. With that, the industry's trade deficit shrank 0.8%, to $ 17.5 billion.
The Abinee expects the sector keep the 5% drop in exports by the end of 2014, for $ 7 billion. Already imports must advance 1%, to $ 43.9 billion, causing high of 2% in the negative balance of the scales to $ 36.9 billion. The entity expects improvement of 1% in employment, for 179 thousand vacancies.
The President of Abinee, Humberto Barbato, cancelled in which event would comment the projections, lamenting the death of Fields, whom he called "our candidate". "We were very impressed with his answers in Sabbath promoted by CNI [National Confederation of industry] in July," commented Barbato.
