Sugar Loaf (Pão de Açúcar): net income reaches r $ 15.2 billion in quarter

The Pão de Açúcar Group recorded consolidated net income of R $ 15.2 billion in the second quarter of 2014, advancement of 13.4% compared to the previous year. In the first half the growth was 12.6%, to R $ 30.2 billion.

The food area showed growth of 14.5% in the comparison of net revenues in the months of April, may and June of last year to this year, and reached r $ 8.41 billion. In six months the number reaches R $ 16.67 billion, up 13%.
The subsidiary's net revenue Via Retail was $ 5.52 billion in the quarter, a growth of 8%, and for $ 10.97 billion in the first half, up 6.9%.
The new Dotcom, responsible for electronic commerce group, showed strong growth of 35.1% in the comparison of revenues for the second quarter of 2013 and 2014, rising to $ 1.28 billion. In the first half, revenues up 43.4%, to $ 2.59 billion.
The growth of this area, says the company was supported by a significant increase in the number of visits to sites, improved purchase conversion rate and greater representativity of the so-called "marketplace", which only this quarter registered a sales volume of more than one and a half times its total last year. "Marketplace" is a sales model that gathers in a same site offers different shops, in multiple threads.
Same-store sales, consolidated units open more than a year, grew by 9.5% in the quarter and 8.5 percent in the first half. The same indicator was discharged from 6.8% in the quarter and Retail 5.3% in the first half.
The positive numbers, according to the company, were benefited by the inauguration of 116 new stores in the last 12 months and by an increase in same store sales. The quarter was 1.1 percentage point in still benefited in terms of calendar effect, since Easter is April.
