Retail sales fall 0.5% in March, but have high of 4.5% in the quarter

RIVER-the volume of retail sales fell 0.5% in March, compared to a month before, already discounted seasonal effects, said the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE). In February, there was stability (as revised).
The estimated average for the Date Value ascertained by the 19 financial institutions and consulting economists was fall of 0.2%. The range of projections understand downtown 1.6% 0.5% high.

As for the expanded retail, which includes sales of vehicles and motorcycles, parts and pieces and construction material, the volume of sales fell 1.2% between February and March amid expectation of indentation of 0.9%. In comparison with March 2013, the recoil was 5.7%. In the first quarter, however, the enlarged retail had growth of 2.1%, and increased 3.2% in 12 months.
The IBGE showed that the nominal revenue expanded retail fell 0.1% in March, after declining 1 percent in February. Compared to March 2013, revenue had fallen 0.4 percent. There was expansion of 7.2 percent in the first three months of the year and high of 8.7% in 12 months.
Considering the monthly comparative, three of the ten activities surveyed by the Institute have obtained positive results for volume of sales-furniture and appliances (1.5%), Books, newspapers, magazines and stationery (1.2%) and pharmacists, physicians, orthopaedic Articles, perfumery and cosmetics (0.5%).
Among the casualties, vehicles and motorcycles, parts and pieces ( -0.6%), Hypermarkets, supermarkets, food products, beverages and tobacco ( -1%), fuels and lubricants ( -1.5%) and building Material ( -3.1%).
In comparison with March 2013, five of the eight retail activities saw a reduction in sales volume, such as Hypermarkets, supermarkets, food products, beverages and tobacco ( -2.8%) and textiles, clothing and footwear ( -7.3%). On the opposite end, were, for example, pharmacists, physicians, orthopaedic Articles, perfumery and cosmetics (9.6%), fuels and lubricants (4%) and furniture and appliances (3.8%).
