IBGE: vehicle sales in March was the worst in 6 years

RIVER-March 2014 marked a sharp drop of 16 percent in sales of vehicles, in comparison with the same month of last year. It is the worst result since March 2008, when the indicator was 20.3% reduction. The data were disclosed on Thursday, 15, by the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE), in Monthly Trade Survey (PMC).
According to the Institute, the crash indicates that the thread felt strongly the effect of IPI, beginning in January. Also weighed a smaller supply of credit and the calendar effect, with fewer working days due to the Carnival.
