Apple bet in home automation

Apple prepares a new software platform that will transform the iPhone into remote control for lights, security systems and other household accessories, as part of a major onslaught to advance in the so-called "internet of things", the next battlefield of the dominant technology groups.
The company intends to confront rivals such as Google and Samsung with a "big move" in the world of technology for "smart" houses, in their World Conference of programmers, on 2 June, in San Francisco, according to sources privy to the subject.
The plan would strengthen the idea, shared by many in Silicon Valley, that automated houses in the style of the cartoon "the Jetsons" are the next frontier of technology, considering that the growth of sales of mobile phones begin to decelerate in developed countries.
Apple's plans come after the acquisition in January, the Nest Labs, a manufacturer of thermostats and smoke alarms connected to the internet, by Google, for $ 3.2 billion, and the recent premiere of "Smart Home" line, from Samsung, refrigerators, clothes washers and TVs that can be controlled from the watch or cell phone.
The integrated system of Apple will make it easier to configure and control new "smart" appliances for domestic use. For example, the lights of a House could turn on automatically when the owner came in, with your iPhone indicating your arrival for a wireless signal. This system was outlined in Apple's patent application, published in November 2013.
The system connected to give Apple's customers residences more reasons to buy various family devices iOS, Apple's operating system, using an iPhone or iPad in conjunction with its Apple TV-whose updated version should be released sometime this year-to control other appliances.
Apple has been talking to a select group of other handset manufacturers whose "intelligent" products will be certified to operate in conjunction with the new system and then be sold in their retail stores.
The scheme will be similar to the current seal "Made for iPhone", put on headphones, speakers and other accessories compatible. Apple can also provide additional guarantees that your certified products are not vulnerable to hackers.
Apple should highlight the privacy protection included in your "smart House" systems, according to one of the sources familiar with Apple's plan told the "Financial Times". Sought, the company didn't want to comment.
