Feed production in pace of expansion

Despite the concern about the performance of the Brazilian economy in 2015, domestic production of feed tends to grow 3 percent next year, predicts the National Union's Executive Vice President of the Animal feed industry (Sindirações), Ariovaldo Zani.
If this projection is confirmed, the production (including mineral salt for cattle) will reach 69.3 million tons. According to Zani, the poultry will be, once again, the main responsible for the growth.
The expectation of the leader is that, due to the higher price of salted beef, Brazilians continue to choose, as at the end of this year, by swapping out the product for chicken meat, which is positive for the feed industry. In Brazil, the cattle are traditionally fed on pasture, using less feed.
This year, the poultry has already pulled the advancement of feed production in the country, according to data released on Friday by the Sindirações. In all, the Brazilian industry of animal nutrition produced 67.3 million tonnes of feed in 2014, up 4.1% from the 64.6 million last year.
Of the total produced this year, the rations for poultry accounted for 54.9%, or 37 million tons, which meant an increase of 3.6% in comparison with the 35.8 million produced last year.
According to Zani, such an increase in the production of feed for poultry farming was supported by a slight increase in production of chicken meat. According to estimates released by the Brazilian Association of Animal protein (ABPA), the Brazilian production of chicken increased by 2.8% this year, adding 12.65 million tons.
In addition to performing of poultry farming, the Sindirações also highlighted the advancement of production of feed for beef cattle and milk-who recorded 6.3 percent advance, to 8 million tons, according to the Sindirações. Aggregated by the syndicate in a separate number, production of mineral salt, also intended for cattle, grew 10% in the year, reaching 2.2 million tons.
In the case of demand for feed and mineral salt for cattle, the effect of the dry weather on the grasslands has been one of the factors that stimulated sales of feed, to the extent that the cattlemen had to expand the level of supplementation. In addition, the high price of oxen, which reached a record level this year, also favors the demand for feed. Capitalized, the rancher can invest more in nutrition.
