Motorcycle sales fall 2.3% in the first half of July

In the first fortnight of July, were sold 64,200 motorcycle retail units, 2.3 percent less than the total amount sold in the same period in 2012 (65,742 units), according to data from Abraciclo (Brazilian Association of motorcycles, mopeds, Scooters, bicycles and the like) disclosed on Thursday (18). In the monthly comparison was decrease of 3.5%, compared to the same period in June.
With 11 days of sales, the period presented a daily average of 5,836 motorcycles marketed, less 12% compared to June (6,653 units), which had one working day less.
To the Executive Director, José Eduardo Gonçalves, sales show a pullback among the initial fortnight June and July, due to the maintenance of high selectivity in granting loans. "However, we must also consider the impacts of the prolonged holiday July 9, specifically in the State of São Paulo, a significant market, which certainly had influence on the results."
Considering the daily pace of sales and the business days of the second half of the month, the projections of Abraciclo indicate that the total volume at the close of July you will be able to match the month of June.
