Trade sales grow 1% in July, IBGE says

Retail sales grew 1% in July, compared to the previous month, according to data released on Wednesday (11) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). In comparison with July last year, the high was 4.3%. This is the third monthly high followed. "With this result, the retail sector recovers the sales level close to June 2015, but is still 5.3% below the record level achieved in October 2014," IBGE said. The IBGE revised up the two previous results. In June, instead of 0.1%, the high was 0.5%, and in May, it was 0.1%, unlike the stability (0.0%) disclosed before.
