América Móvil, owner of Claro, receives approval from Cade to buy Nextel

Claro, controlled by Mexican América Móvil, received on Monday (9) The endorsement of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) for the acquisition of Nextel Holdings. The business is valued at R $3.47 billion. The acquisition is aligned with Claro's strategy of expanding the capacity to meet the demand for mobile data consumption, according to Cade's opinion. Now, the acquisition needs Anatel's approval. In the business, already disclosed, América Móvil will buy the slice of 70% of Nextel belonging to NII International Holdings and the 30% of AI Brazil Holdings, being the sole owner of the social capital of Nextel.
