The trade indicator movement, which accompanies the performance of retail sales throughout Brazil, grew 1.3% in June this year compared to May, already discounted the seasonal effects, according to data obtained by Boa Vista/SPC. It is the first high after six consecutive months of retraction in motion. Compared to the same month last year, however, the indicator dropped 1.7%, while in the accumulated year rose 1.4%.
"It is still too early to talk about the resumption of sales of trade," says the consultancy. "Factors such as the high level of unemployment and underutilization of manpower, lower confidence and shy income growth remain the main obstacles to a more robust evolution of the sector." Boa Vista/SPC understands, on the other hand, that the release of assets from active accounts of the FGTS should bring an injection of spirit into the trade, eventually reversing the trajectory of deceleration of sales observed since last year. All the main sectors monitored by the consultancy recorded sales growth in the monthly analysis, with "furniture and appliances" leading the highs by growing 0.6%. Subsequently, "fuels and lubricants" advanced 0.5%, and "fabrics, garments and footwear" rose 0.3%.
