Consumer demand for credit drops 4.8% in June, says Boa Vista

Consumer demand for credit declined 4.8% between May and June, already discounting seasonal influences, according to the national data of Boa Vista. "The deterioration of the economic scenario and the decline in confidence in recent months seem to have been reflected in a more cautious behaviour of consumers, affecting, with this, the demand for credit, which showed a decline for the second consecutive month – and the More pronounced decrease was observed in the financial segment. The availability of FGTS resources, which can also be used as collateral for loans, however, may positively affect the trajectory of the indicator in the coming months ", notes the entity. Considering the segments that compose the indicator, the financial presented a decrease of 7.9% in the month. The non-financial segment, in turn, declined 2.7% on the same comparison basis. In comparison with June 2018, the indicator fell 3.7%. In the accumulated in 12 months, however, the demand for credit still registers high, of 4.6%. "The trajectory of the indicator accumulated in 12 months shows that the demand for credit has not shown signs of acceleration in its pace of recovery, reflecting the weak growth of the economy and the labor market weakened by high rates of unemployment and Underutilization of the workforce, "says Boa Vista. The consumer demand indicator by credit is elaborated from the number of CPF consultations to the Boa Vista database by companies.
