Rio de Janeiro has the most expensive food basket of the country

In may, the value of the basket went up in 18 Brazilian capitals. The biggest price rise occurred in Campo Grande, where the increase was of 5.22%. Then appears, with elevation of 3.49%. João Pessoa and Fortress also recorded significant adjustments, 3.17% and 3.12%, respectively. The data are from the national survey of the Basic Food Basket, held by the Dieese. Rio de Janeiro is the city with the most expensive food basket of the country, costing, on average, R $446.03. Florianopolis appears shortly thereafter, with average value of R $441.62. Following appears São Paulo (R $441.16) and Porto Alegre (R $437.73). On the other hand, the lowest prices were found in Salvador, where the basic basket cost of R $327.56 and Recife (R $336.36). In Manaus and Belo Horizonte, the basket had price drop in the month of May. In the Amazonian capital retreat was 0.82%, while in the mining town was decrease of 0.39%.
