Pork exports Record fall of 13%

In the first quarter of 2018, exports of pork-considering all products, between fresh and processed-recorded 155,200 tons. The volume indicates a decrease of 13.4% compared to the first three months of 2017-with 179,200 tons. The data are from the Brazilian Association of Animal protein (ABPA). In revenue, the sales performance in the year reached $ $315.3 million, 21.9% lower than the $ $403.7 million registered between January and March last year. Considering only March, industry exports reached 58100 tonnes-8.1% volume below the 63200 tons obtained in the third month of 2017. In revenue, there were 23% retracement, with $ $115 million in March 2018 and $ $151 million in the same month of last year. Sales of pork to China totaled 39200 tons in the first quarter of 2018, 152% higher result at 15500 tonnes shipped last year. Still in Asia, Singapore has expanded their purchases in 5%, with 8700 tonnes this year, down from 8200 tonnes last year. In South America, Uruguay imported 8800 tonnes in the first three months of this year-31% higher balance in the same period of last year.
