Footwear Industry Provides 6 percent advance this year

Footwear manufacturers predict a growth of 4.5% to 6.6% in revenues in 2018 compared to the previous year, reaching a value of $22.62 billion and R R $23.08 billion. In 2017, industry revenues grew 4.6%, to R $21.65 billion. The data are part of the sectorial report drawn up by the Brazilian footwear industries Association (Abicalçados). According to the survey, the production of footwear in Brazil will have a breakthrough between 0.4% and 3.5% in 2018 and may reach a number between 912.5 million and 940.7 million pairs. In 2017, had high production of 1.1%, adding pair 908.9 million. The slippers accounted for 45.4% of production in 2017, compared to 45.7% in the previous year. The casual and social footwear accounted for 40.3% of production, up from 40.8 in 2016. The sports footwear accounted for 10% of production, up from 9.4 percent a year earlier. Safety shoes were already practically stable, with 3.8% of production. The Orthopedic also kept stable participation in 0.5% of the total. The report is based on data provided by 1,540 companies, representing around 70% of the national production.
