São Paulo Consumes 36.7% of Breads Produced

The State of São Paulo is the region that consumes more bread. National sales volume registered in 2017 (433,900 tons), the State matches the 36.7% of consumption-about 159,000 tons, with emphasis on sliced breads (buns), which represented 72.3% of share, 115,000 tons. The survey was commissioned by the Brazilian Association of industries of cookies, pasta and breads & Cakes (Abimapi) Industrial, motivated by the world day of bread, which will be celebrated next Tuesday (16). The greater São Paulo accounts for 20.5% of consumption, followed by the southern region (18.1%), East and interior of Rio de Janeiro (16.6%), São Paulo (16.2%), Great Rio de Janeiro (13.3%), North and northeast (9.6%) and Midwest (5.7%).
