Consumers visit malls of Brazil falls in September affected by politics, says Abrasce

SAO PAULO-the visitor flow in shopping malls of Brazil in September fell 1,76% on a year earlier, affected by turmoil in the political landscape, said on Monday the Brazilian Association of Shopping centres (Abrasce). "Even being an atypical month September on account of lower trade, we cannot fail to consider the period of political and economic uncertainty that we live today in the country and that influences directly on confidence and consumption," said the President of Abrasce, Glauco Humai, on note. The survey, developed in partnership with FX Retail Analytics, showed that the Southeast in September was the worst-performing region, with 2,46% drop in the stream of visitors compared to the same month of 2017. On the other hand, the indicator was discharged from 1,32% in the North-East, and 1,17% in the South, according to the research. It is expected increase in visits to shopping malls in the coming months, depending on dates especially important for retailers, like Black Friday, at the end of November, and Christmas, the founding partner of FX Retail Analytics, Walter Sabini Junior.
