Generic for sale grows 16% in August compared with same month of 2016

São Paulo – sales of generic drugs increased by 15.99% in August 2017 in comparison with the same month of the previous year, according to the Brazilian Association of generic drug Industries (PróGenéricos).
In total, the industry sold 112.7 million units, against 97.2 million units in August 2016.
In the first eight months of the year, the generic record 12.44% expansion in number of units sold in comparison with the same period of the previous year.
The generic industry growth outperformed the industry average of medicines. In August, the overall market grew up 9.19% in units compared to the previous year. As a result, the generic segment closed August with 32.05% share on the total market of medicines in the country.
In values, generic sales reached the mark of R $663.4 million in August (already considered the industry discounts along to retail). The amount is 15.23% greater than the R August 2016 $575.7 million.
In the year, generics accumulate R $4.8 billion in sales, a figure 14.10% higher than in the same range of 2016. The total pharmaceutical market, for your time moved R $37.14 billion in the first seven months of the year, with expansion of 11.77%.
