Kimberly Clark suspends operations '' undefined '' in Venezuela

The American company Kimberly Clark announced the "indefinite" suspension of its operations at its subsidiary of Venezuela through a statement to which the Agency Efe had access this Sunday (10).
"All operations in offices in Caracas, along with the factory and distribution centre of Maracay, were suspended indefinitely and Kimberly-Clark will follow producing, selling or selling their product lines of mass and institutional consumption, while the suspension is in force," said the statement from the company.
Kimberly Clark is one of the leading companies in Venezuela which provided citizens with toiletries and announced the suspension of its activity due to the "deterioration of economic conditions and business".
"This decision is made after years in which the company sought to cope with the complicated circumstances beyond your control, such as the impossibility to buy raw materials, which in the last two months caused the closure of most production lines", details the document.
In addition, the note expressed that such a decision is "very difficult", as the company is aware of the efforts of its workers "in the face of increasing challenges to keep the business running.
Kimberly Clark clarified that if economic conditions in Venezuela change, "will evaluate its options regarding the viability" of return to operate in the Caribbean country, and adds that it "remains committed to the growth of the rest of their existing business operations in Latin America".
200 fired
For his part, the site of the station "Unión Radio" stated that 200 direct company American workers were without a job on Friday.
Companies in Venezuela need of foreign currency to be able to acquire the raw material to produce. Since 2003 the country maintains an exchange rate that leaves control in the hands of the State monopoly on Foreign Exchange administration of the country, which are sold through an embarrassed administrative system.
In addition, in recent months have created a bottleneck in delivering currencies to different economic sectors that affected all sectors in its supply and production.
