Heineken closes factory in BA and redirects to EC and SP

Heineken said in a statement that the decision was taken due to the "need to bring the operation of the company to another level of excellence, maintaining its economic sustainability." The company took into account the fact that fails to sell the products in the State of Bahia and the cost to dispose of the production to other States.
The production of Feira de Santana unit was transferred to the units of Pacatuba, Ceará (CE) and Araraquara (SP). The company reported that analyzes transfer some employees to other factories that has in the country.
Heineken has plants in Ponta Grossa (PR), Gravataí (RS), Paracatuba (EC), Jacareí (SP), Araraquara (SP) and Itumbiara (under construction). The company has a production capacity of 19,000,000 hectolitres per year and is expected to reach 25,000,000 hectolitres per year by 2018, with the installation of the plant in Goiás and the expansion of the unit in the State of Paraná.
According to information from the Association of beer and Beverage Industries of Bahia (Sindbeb-BA), 123 employees off the company, around six were transferred to other units. Another ten are in the unit by the end of the year to take care of the documentation of closure and sale of machinery.
In agreement with the Union, Heineken paid beyond the termination of the contract, six months of average assistance, six months of food stamps, and 1 four extra salaries, varying according to the seniority of each employee.
The factory closures is one of the actions adopted by the breweries to improve productivity and cut costs. The Kirin Brazil recently sold an industrial plant that possessed in Cachoeiras de Macacu (RJ) to Ambev, as part of the company''s plan to restructure the operation in Brazil and save R$ this year''s 200,000,000. Ambev also closed a factory in Natal at the end of last year, after the Government of Rio Grande do Norte to increase the rate of the GST to 27% beer to 29%.
Heineken is the third largest brewery in the world and also the third in Brazil, behind Ambev and Grupo Petrópolis. The company closed the first quarter of the year, with volume growth of "a middle digit" (between 5% and 7%) in Brazil, with sales of the Heineken brand maintained the pace of double-digit advance, compared to the same range of 2015.
The company''s performance was above the market average. According to data of the Control system for the production of beverages (Sicobe) of the internal revenue service, in the first quarter, the local production of beer fell 6.8%.
