MasterCard's profit advances 9.8% in the second quarter and reaches $ 931 mi

SAO PAULO-the MasterCard reported that its second-quarter net profit grew 9.8%, with strong volume of operations, including those linked to cross-border negotiations. The profit was $ 931 million, compared with $ 848 million in the same period of last year. The result per share, the gain was at $ 0.80, $ 0.70 on the same basis of comparison. Revenue improved 13 percent to $ 2.38 billion, while some analysts were predicting $ 2.31 billion. MasterCard reported that its operating expenses for the quarter rose 15 percent, to $ 994 million. This increase was 12% after excluding the impact of acquisitions, which the company attributed to higher investment in people.
BNP Paribas, the French bank BNP Paribas reported a quarterly loss for the second quarter, reflecting a $ 8.95 billion for disobeying the United States sanctions, but the French Bank said its strong results excluding the charge was a sign that customers are not scared by the case.
The loss of 4.317 billion euros ($ 5.78 billion), the first since the financial crisis of 2008 was a result of the charge of 5.95 billion euros for the fine, announced in June.
