World Cup raises production of beer in 12%

The Brazilian brewery produced 3.2 billion liters of the drink only in the second quarter of this year to appease the thirst of fans during the World Cup.
The volume is 12% greater than that produced in the same period last year, according to data from the Brazilian Association of the industry of Beer (CervBrasil), obtained exclusively by the Broadcast, real-time news service the Agência Estado. "
It's as if we've replaced one month of winter for a month of high summer. It's like taking the month of June and have two months of February in the year, "explained Paolo Petroni, Executive Director of CervBrasil, which brings together the four largest beverage manufacturers in the country, responsible for about 96% of the market: Ambev, Brazil Kirin, Grupo Petrópolis and Heineken Brazil.
A study of the IBOPE Repucom disclosed on Wednesday, 25, confirms that the beer is the drink of the World Cup.
The research conducted with football Superfans in Brazil-those that effectively go to games and are emotionally engaged with the sport-shows that 64% consume beer usually.
"There is a very strong correlation between the passion for football and the passion for beer. Research shows that the beer is the drink of the surface of football and is the drink of the World Cup, "said the Executive Director of IBOPE Repucom, José Colagrossi.
The World Cup has been propelling the beer industry since the beginning of 2014.
After a poor performance in 2013, when production shrank 2.6 percent, the proximity of the World Cup returned to enliven the segment, which gambled even in increased fleet of trucks to ease the flow of booze.
In March, a Man Latin American anticipated to Broadcast that would provide 314 trucks to Ambev, the largest brewer in the country. "The industry started the year in preparation for the World Cup. Everyone was betting on these numbers, "says Petroni.
In fact, brewing increased 11.2% from January to June, compared to the first half of last year. About 40 thousand trucks were in charge of transporting 52 beverage plants for 1.2 million sales points throughout Brazil.
Heating demand has made prices become more salty for fans, according to data from the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE).
The prior official June inflation, measured by the national consumer price Index Broad-15 (IPCA-15) shows that the beer purchased in supermarkets is 10.29% more expensive for consumers in the month of the world than a year ago. In host cities such as Salvador, the increase in 12 months reaches 25.09 percent.
In Recife, the fans are paying 19.85% more, and, on the River, 16.88%. If consumed in bars and restaurants is costing 13.18% more.
Past the sports event, the expectation is that demand and brewing in the country are reduced. However, the World Cup has already guaranteed a good perspective for the closing of the year.
The CervBrasil estimates that the Brazilian beer industry will expand 5.2% in 2014, if the pace of production in the second half to remain on the landing of the same period in 2013.
