With stand-up pouches, canning line expands Choice

The Choice extends its family of pickled vegetables with peas and corn presented in stand-up pouches-plastic bags that remain standing. The products are available in two sizes: 200 grams for retail, and 2 pounds, to the wholesale and food service channel.
The company has already produced processed vegetables packed in cans, steel products will remain on the line. Rogerio Byczyk, marketing manager, explains that the new package aims to provide consumers with "cost-benefit analysis interesting, beyond modernity and practicality".
To withstand cooking and sterilization of the content, the pouches are made of a high-performance aluminized structure, whose exact make-up is not revealed. The supplier of packaging and filling machine (fill-seal) is powered by HPM, Global South represented in Brazil by Trading Marks. The value of the investment is not disclosed by Choice.
The graphic design is the house of creation of the marketing department at food manufacturer. According to Roger Byczyk, the products can be found in retail outlets in southern and southeastern Brazil. "Soon, they will be in all Brazil," he says.
The Executive believes that the concept of vegetable in pouch can be as successful as the tomato in the same package. "We have knowledge in this area, because we were one of the pioneers in the use of pouches for tomato derivatives in the country", says Byczyk.
