Heavy machinery stop growing in the shade of the World Cup and the Olympics

The manufacturers of construction machinery in the country has some drawbacks to overcome in the Brazilian market. After all, the expected growing demand with the great public works, especially for the World Cup and the Olympics, is increasingly uncertain.
In addition, the supply chain does not have the capacity to meet the manufacturers immediately when these opportunities come out of paper. The two bottlenecks, according to industry representatives, are the main factors that hinder the increase of production of this type of machine in Brazil today.
"Companies have the capacity to increase production by up to 40%. We have this structure. However, the lack of predictability of projects and the fact that we have a supply chain with difficulties for the supply, prevent us from giving this jump in production, "said the Mayor of Road Machinery sector of Associação Brasileira da Indústria de Máquinas e Equipamentos (Abimaq), Andrea Park.
For this year, the expectation of Abimaq is that manufacturers sell in the domestic market around 30 thousand machines, similar to the volume won in 2012.
"We have a big risk in increasing our production and the great works do not avenge, or take longer than expected. So, put your foot on the brake and designing the production according to the definition of government projects. We are a sector closely linked to government decisions, "said Andrea Park.
