Nutriplant closed 2012 in blue and with jump in revenue

The Brazilian company Nutriplant, one of the pioneers of special fertilizer area, closed 2012 with net profits of r $ 7.8 million, reversing a loss of r $ 10 million the previous year.
The net revenue of the company reached r $ 52.2 million, 78.6% more than the r $ 29.3 million recorded in 2011. The earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) totaled r $ 13.5 million last year, which represented a significant improvement after the negative amount of r $ 1.4 million in the previous year.
According to company information, the best performance reflects two important factors of strategic, operational and financial restructuring initiated in April 2012: the incorporation of Quirios chemicals industry, in Barueri, Sao Paulo, and the sale of a unit of the company that manufactured soil applied micronutrient-operation that netted $ 24.5 million to Nutriplant. The company decided to focus the work on products, more profitable, but continues reselling micronutrients for soil application.
With the strategic restructuring plan, the company integrated the activities of Quirios and Nutriplant and "Verticalized" chain, allowing the achievement of operational and administrative synergies. The measure reduced costs and led to increased competitiveness in special fertilizers and differentiated trade, according to Nutriplant.
The company also reported that reduced spending in 7.2 percentage points last year, representing 22.2 percent of its net revenue-or RS $ 11.6 million-in the period.
The focus in 2013 is in development of most profitable products, higher technology. "We should increase the market share of special fertilizers," said Simone Fonseca, Director of controlling of Nutriplant.
