Golden Arches grew 15.9% in Brazil, during the first quarter

SÃO PAULO-Arcos Dorados, owner of franchises of McDonald 's, disclosed in note that won in Brazil $ $460,9 million in the first quarter of 2013, with growth of 15.9% over the same period last year in constant currency. In dollars, the growth was 2.4%, as a result of the devaluation of 13% of the real against the u.s. currency during the period.
With 735 restaurants, or 37.5% of the units operated by Arcos Dorados in Latin America, the Brazilian revenue accounted for 47.2% of the total. Throughout the region, Arcos Dorados grossed $ $976,9 million in the quarter, with growth of 6% in dollars. In constant currency, not considering the variations of the local currencies of the 20 countries in which it operates, the growth was 15.7%.
Arcos Dorados closed the quarter with restaurants, 1959 1997 dessert malls and 339 units of McCafé. In Brazil, the openings increased the number of restaurants for 735 at the end of the quarter. The company's adjusted Ebitda was $ $68,7 million, 12% less in dollars than in the same quarter of the previous year, or 1.7% higher excluding the variations of the local currencies and "special items". The negative impact of $ $15,4 million caused mainly by the devaluation of the Venezuelan Bolivar has reversed the net profit of the company in the period for a loss of $ 6.6 million, compared with a profit of $ $25,4 million in the same quarter of the previous year.
