Antilles launches PAPER FRONT Eco Facial Filter

Always in search of innovations in the packaging universe, Antilles takes a step further and launches a product to consumers, essential for coronavirus protection, combining process technology and sustainability.
The new PAPER FRONT Eco Facial Filter mask was developed in Suzano's TP White Plus cardboard structure and coated internally with treated filter paper for greater moisture resistance. The mask is an alternative that unites design and practicality and is produced on a large scale, from papers from certified renewable sources.
The development team was led directly by Bruno Baptista, General Manager of the company, who followed all phases of the process.
"Inspired by studies that proved the efficiency of filter paper, we were concerned to develop and produce an efficient mask, comfortable and accessible by its production scale. We aim to minimize environmental problems caused when undue disposal occurs in the environment and we want to contribute to reduce the speed of dissemination of the virus by increasing the supply of quality masks to the population", says Bruno Baptista who was involved daily in the decisions of the project to accelerate development.
The company was careful to perform all mandatory tests to prove the Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) and the result was excellent. The product guarantees the filtration of 98.7%, a percentage higher than that required for masks for professional use in the health area, which is 95%.
Suitable for conventional use, the new disposable paper mask, with patent required, has among the main benefits the lightness on the face, a pleasant breathing and the ease of use with glasses, since it helps not to blur the lenses.
In order to ensure sustainability to the product, Suzano's TP White Plus cardboard was chosen, both for the manufacture of masks and packaging, always carrying the FSC seal that certifies the origin of the reforestation wood. The elastics for use in masks also have this appeal, as they are reusable after sanitization to minimize waste in disposal.
From biodegradable material, the new paper mask is a reliable protection solution for people's day-to-day life.
"We at Suzano reinforce the importance of engaging with our partners in the development of innovative products that can contribute to the fight against Covid-19, ensuring the health and safety of society as a whole, and that are also sustainable, originated from renewable sources and that are recyclable and biodegradable," says Leonardo Grimaldi, Executive Director of the Paper Business Unit.
The company's goal is to be able to make the PAPER FRONT Eco Facial Filter available throughout the country, through pharmacies, supermarkets and other points of sale.
Currently the product is available in one size, but the company intends to soon make the new mask available also in sizes P, M, G and infant.
The project also brought innovation to the antilles business model, which has always been focused on B2B and has now launched an e-commerce dedicated to PAPER FRONT Eco Facial Filter for sales directly to the final consumer, in the capitals of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Paraná (www.paperfront.com.br).
In addition, it will market the masks wholesale through the www.antilhasonline.com.br for retailers interested in resale.
