BIG Group installs disinfection booths in its stores

In order to provide a safer environment against the spread of Covid-19, Grupo BIG invests in shopping disinfection booths. By means of ultraviolet rays, carts with up to 50 units of products are sanitized in the structure.
The solution is already implemented in big hypermarkets in Pacaembu, Washington Luís and Tamboré, in São Paulo, and in Big Bompreço Iguatemi, Salvador (BA).
By the end of September, the forecast is to have 50 stores of the group with the cabins installed. This service will be available in all regions where the company operates in the units of Big, Big Bompreço, Maxxi Atacado, Nacional, Super Bompreço and Sam's Club.
The cab holds one cart at a time, with up to 50 items, and the disinfection process takes 90 seconds. The technology acts to considerably reduce the viral load on the surface of the products, thus facilitating the process of hygiene, and can be adopted as a complement in the fight against coronavirus.
The disinfection booths join hundreds of other actions taken by the BIG Group during the Pandemic period in order to provide a safer environment for its employees and customers. All measures to protect against the spread of covid-19 were implemented in line with guidance provided by public health agencies.
The Group adopted the process of disinfecting the stores by means of vaporizers, installed acrylic plates in front of the boxes and adhesived the floor of the stores to guide people about the minimum distance to be adopted to avoid crowding in the queues. Throughout the workday, the company provides masks and alcohol gel for all employees of the stores, which also has the temperature tested at each start of business.
The use of alcohol is also being done to enhance the hygiene of shopping carts and handrails after traditional washing with soap and water. With these initiatives, Grupo BIG reinforces its commitment to the safety of the environment of its stores and keeps them in full operation to ensure the supply of thousands of homes throughout Brazil.
