Atacadão Network announces R$ 50 million venture in Uruguaiana

It was announced this weekend the implementation of a unit of the Brazilian supermarket chain Atacadão, of the Carrefour group, in Uruguaiana.
According to the company's leaders, the investment in the project reaches R$ 50 million and will generate 300 direct and another 400 indirect jobs.
Founded in 1962, in Maringá, Paraná, it is today the only wholesale and retail network present in all Brazilian states.
"Atacadão" has 50,000 employees and operates in key commercial activities. In Uruguaiana, the network has already acquired the area, on the banks of the BR-290, where it will be installed and construction works are expected to be completed by March 31, 2021. Work is expected to begin in the next 60 days.
The atacarejo format attracts different audiences. Most of them include microentrepreneurs: owners of bars, restaurants, pizzerias, mini markets – and end consumers.
Currently, Atacadão has 192 stores in Brazil and 28 wholesale delivery. This was the second major development announced in the last fortnight. The first was a hotel of the Ibis Network.
