The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) approved, on Thursday, a request from the Sugarcane Industry Union (Unica) so that the mills can produce, transport and donate hydrated alcohol of type 70º INPM, said the entity that brings together the sugar-energy companies in the south-central region.
The goal of the measure is to contribute to the supply of public health units, free of charge, in order to contain the spread of coronavirus, Unica said in a statement.
According to the statement, the entity has more than a hundred associated production units, present in five Brazilian states.
"The sugar-energy sector wants to join forces with government agencies and the population to ensure that health professionals, patients and family members have the resources to go through this difficult time," said Unica's president, Evandro Gussi.
